Casement Windows by PrimeFab

Casement Windows

Casement windows are our best selling style: versatile, secure, and made to measure in a wide range of colours and finishes.

Flush Sash Windows by PrimeFab

Flush Sash Windows

Flush casement windows sit level with the frame, giving a period timber look in uPVC. The usual choice for conservation areas and older stone frontages.

Tilt & Turn Windows by PrimeFab

Tilt & Turn Windows

Tilt and turn windows open two ways for cleaning and ventilation. Common in flats and anywhere the outside face cannot be reached safely.

Bay & Bow Windows by PrimeFab

Bay & Bow Windows

Bay window replacement engineered with the right structural head, so the projection carries its load. Standard on Manchester's Victorian and inter-war terraces.

Sliding Sash Windows by PrimeFab

Sliding Sash Windows

uPVC sash windows in the classic vertical sliding pattern, with modern seals and locks behind a traditional face. French casement windows also available.

Trade Supply by PrimeFab

Supply-only UPVC frames and units for builders and installers - see our trade accounts.

Colours & finishes

Every colour we can make

Colour is chosen at order rather than picked from stock, so nothing costs more simply because it is not white.

Anthracite grey

Anthracite grey upvc windows are the most requested colour we make, usually grey outside with white inside so the rooms stay light.

Black

Black upvc windows for a sharper modern look, and the usual pairing alongside a black composite door.

Woodgrain

Woodgrain upvc windows in a textured foil, so the frame reads as timber from the pavement without the maintenance.

Rosewood & Golden Oak

Rosewood upvc windows and Golden Oak upvc windows, the two traditional foils, matched when you are replacing part of a house rather than all of it.

Cream

Cream upvc windows, softer than white and common on the stone and render frontages across Cheshire.

Bars & detailing

Georgian bar windows and astragal bar windows, with the bar spacing set to match the originals rather than a standard grid.

Specification

How the windows are built

A rated as standard

Every unit leaves as A rated windows or better, using a low-e pane and a warm edge spacer rather than charging extra for both.

Triple glazing

Triple glazed upvc windows where noise or a north-facing elevation justifies the extra pane and the extra weight.

Slim sightlines

Slim frame upvc windows where the opening is small and every millimetre of frame costs you daylight.

Made to measure

Made to measure upvc windows in the literal sense. Nothing is cut down from a stock size, because each frame is fabricated to your survey.

Buying from us

Why buy from the factory

We are a window company Manchester homeowners can actually visit. The frames are made in the same building you ring.

Direct from the factory

New upvc windows direct from the factory, which takes the sales agency and the distributor out of the price. Replacement upvc windows and double glazing upvc windows: upvc windows made in Manchester, at Trafford Park.

Our own installers

Local window fitters and uPVC window installers employed by us, not subcontracted crews, and FENSA registered window installers so the paperwork is covered.

Supply and fit, or supply only

uPVC windows supply and fit for homeowners, supply only for the trade. Both come off the same line at the same build quality.

Free survey and quote

A upvc windows free quote follows a real survey. Honest upvc window prices, itemised per window, so you can see what each opening costs.

Good to know

uPVC window questions

How much do uPVC windows cost in the UK?

Price follows size, style, colour and glass spec rather than a flat rate per window. A plain white casement is the cheapest thing we make; a flush sash in a woodgrain foil with Georgian bars is the dearest. We quote itemised per window after a survey, so you can add or drop individual openings and see the effect.

Are uPVC windows better than aluminium?

Neither is better outright. uPVC insulates slightly better for the money and costs less. Aluminium is stronger, so it carries larger panes on slimmer sightlines and takes any RAL colour. For a standard house uPVC usually wins on value; for big openings or a modern extension, aluminium usually wins on looks.

What is an A rated window?

It is the Window Energy Rating band, running from A++ down to G, and it measures the whole window rather than the glass alone. Frame, glass, spacer bar and gas fill all count towards it. Every window we make is A rated or better as standard.

Do I need a FENSA certificate for new windows?

Replacement windows are notifiable under building regulations, so the work has to be either self certified by a registered installer or signed off by building control. Ask any installer which route they use before you order, because you will want that paperwork when you sell.

How long does it take to fit new windows?

A single window is a morning. A typical three bedroom house is one to two days on site once the frames are made. The manufacturing time before that is the longer part, and we confirm it when the order is placed.

How long do uPVC windows last?

The frames outlast the moving parts comfortably. Expect hinges, handles and gaskets to need attention along the way, and the sealed units to have a finite life. A well made frame fitted squarely is a long term item, which is why we repair far more windows than we replace.

Judging a quote

How to compare two window quotes properly

Two quotes for "uPVC windows" can be for genuinely different products. These are the six lines that actually separate them.

Profile and chambers
How many chambers in the frame, and whether the same system runs throughout rather than only on the front elevation.
Glass
The U-value, whether low-E is standard or an upgrade, and what the spacer bar between the panes is made of.
Reinforcement
Steel or thermal reinforcement, and in which sections. This is where a cheap quote usually gets cheap.
Hardware
Hinge and lock make, and whether it is the same on every window or only the ones you can reach.
Guarantee
Who stands behind it, and whether it is insurance backed so it survives the company closing.
What is included
Removal, disposal, making good the reveals and the FENSA certificate. All four are sometimes extras.

We fabricate ours in Trafford Park, so if you want to compare a specification line by line we can tell you exactly what is in ours.

Straight answer on cost

What changes the price of uPVC windows

The starting figure is a small casement supplied and fitted. Four things move it.

  • Size and style. A small top opener, a tilt and turn and a three-sided bay are very different pieces of work.
  • Glass specification. Low-E as standard, then acoustic, solar control, obscure or toughened where the room or the position calls for it.
  • Colour and finish. White is the standard. Foiled woodgrains and colours on both faces add to the frame cost.
  • What is coming out. Removing old frames, making good the reveals and disposing of the waste is part of the price.
