What is curtain walling?
Curtain walling is a non-structural outer skin, usually aluminium framing infilled with glass, hung off the face of the building. It carries its own weight and the wind load, but none of the floors above, which is what separates it from a window opening cut into a wall.
Do commercial windows need safety glass?
Where the glazing sits in a critical location, low level, beside a door or on a stair, it has to be safety glass. In most commercial buildings that covers a large share of the ground floor, so we specify toughened or laminated as standard.
Who is responsible for commercial window repair, the tenant or the landlord?
The lease decides it. Full repairing leases usually put the glazing on the tenant, while a landlord commonly retains the structure, the facade and anything on a common part. We will work to whichever party instructs and invoice them directly.
How much does commercial glazing cost?
