Questions about repairs
Can you fix misted double glazing?
Yes. When the seal on a double-glazed unit fails, we replace just the glass unit within the existing frame, there’s no need to replace the whole window.
Do you repair other companies’ windows?
We repair almost all makes of aluminium and UPVC windows and doors, even if we didn’t install them originally.
How quickly can you attend?
For urgent security issues — broken glass, a door that won't lock, burglary damage — our 24/7 emergency team is on the road within 30 minutes, and the drive from Trafford Park to your town takes what it takes. Each town page carries its own honest travel time. Planned, non-urgent repairs are booked at a time that suits you.
Is there a call-out charge?
No. There is no call-out charge, and we are not VAT registered, so the figure we quote is the figure you pay with nothing added on top. Send a description or a photo and we will price it before anyone sets off.
What a repair actually costs
There is no call-out charge and we are not VAT registered, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay. A repair is almost always a fraction of a replacement, and these are the things that move it.
- Which component failed
- A handle is the cheapest thing on a window. A friction stay costs more, a multipoint gearbox more again. None of them is close to a new window.
- Whether the part is still made
- Current patterns come off the shelf. Obsolete hardware has to be matched, which takes longer but is still cheaper than replacing the frame around it.
- How many are affected
- Hardware of the same age tends to fail within a couple of years of itself, so doing several in one visit costs less each than several separate call-outs.
- Whether the frame is sound
- This is the one that decides repair against replacement. A straight, true frame is worth repairing indefinitely. Once the frame itself has moved, hardware will keep failing because the geometry is wrong, and we will tell you that rather than sell you another repair.
Glass replacement starts at £99 and a replacement sealed unit at £250, both supplied and fitted. For a full breakdown of when replacing wins, read our guide to new window costs.
