What the symptom usually means
Bifold problems
A bifold door won't close, or a bifold door stiff to open. Both come back to the same thing: the set has come off its geometry and the rollers are fighting the track.
Sliding problems
A sliding door won't slide because the rollers have collapsed under the pane. Patio door roller replacement is the fix, and it is cheaper than most people fear.
The door has dropped
An aluminium door dropped on its hinges catches the frame and stops locking. Aluminium door hinge adjustment lifts it square again.
Water on the inside

Rarely. We machine or adapt hardware for obsolete systems in our own workshop. That's the advantage of calling a fabricator instead of a fitter.
My aluminium windows are misting between the panes. Repairable?
The sealed unit gets replaced, not the frame. We build the unit at our workshop and refit it, normally within 24 to 48 hours for Manchester.
Who actually repairs aluminium windows in Manchester?

How much does aluminium window repair cost?
Hardware jobs are the cheapest: a handle, a hinge, a set of rollers. Sealed units cost more because each is made to order. Frame and powder coating work is priced per section. We quote from photos and measurements before travelling.
Can old aluminium windows be repaired?
Yes, more often than you are told. The obstacle is almost never the frame, which outlasts everything around it. It is the hardware, and because we fabricate aluminium we can machine a replacement when the original is no longer made.
Are aluminium windows worth repairing?
If the frames are straight and the finish is sound, repairing is far better value than replacing, and aluminium frames stay straight for decades. The case for replacement is thermal: an old frame with no thermal break will always run with condensation, and no repair changes that.
Can you replace glass in aluminium windows?
Yes. The unit comes out of the frame the same way it went in, and we build the replacement at Trafford Park. Older frames often take a thinner unit than modern ones, which is why we measure the rebate rather than assume.
Why do aluminium windows get condensation?
Untreated aluminium conducts cold straight through to the inside face, so moisture in the room condenses on it. That is cold bridging. Modern frames have an insulating thermal break through the middle of the profile and behave normally; anything from the 1970s or early 80s does not.

Older systems may be out of production, in which case parts get matched rather than ordered. It takes longer but it is still cheaper than a new window.
